St Lucia

St Lucia is a combination of some of the most spectacular beauty to be found anywhere in the Caribbean. Lush rainforests, dramatic mountains, golden beaches and hidden coves, giving it a reputation as being the Caribbean's most scenic island.

To the south are the dramatic twin mountains, "Les Pitons", whose volcanic origins have created fascinating underwater reefs which draw divers from all over the world.

St Lucia has alternated between French and British rule on fourteen occasions and there is an interesting mix of English, French and Creole in the culture, cuisine and local patois.

Castries is a colourful, bustling town but the shops and markets are all too often thronged with cruise ship passengers. Head away from the town and discover the unspoilt beauty of rainforests, sulphur springs and the dormant volcano.

Choose your resort carefully - for white sands, contemporary hotels and lively nights, focus upon the north. If you prefer a more rustic escape amidst splendid tropical scenery, relax a while down south. Unique sightseeing opportunities include Diamond Falls, Marigot Bay, the drive-in volcano at Soufrière and, of course, the world famous Pitons.
